Arlington's closing still shapes how Illinois feels. Hawthorne Race Course in the Stickney/Cicero pocket is the Chicago-area live product most people mean when they say they are going to the track. Fairmount Park in Collinsville handles the St. Louis side of the state. The old downtown OTB parlor culture is not what it was in the 1990s, which is exactly why a directory has to be honest: we seed the working venues and say so when a city is still being mapped. This is an off-track and live-racing directory, not a sportsbook kiosk list and not a harness magazine.
